Currently I am enrolled in a Massive Open Online Course (MOOC). Jennifer Maddrell and the talented team of volunteers at Designers for Learning are facilitating the course, which is 3 months long.
I learned Instructional Design in my technical writer program but wanted to expand upon my basic knowledge and delve into projects. The great feature of this course is that it is project-based, so while you are learning the theory you are also applying your skills to create a learning module or lesson.
Our projects all relate to basic adult education. Topics are varied, but the ultimate goal is for each project to assist adult learners who are preparing to complete the GED or another equivalent diploma. The projects will be available on OER Commons for educators and students around the world.
It’s exciting to see the vast diversity of experience in my classmates. Together, with the wise guidance of the instructors, we are going to create great things.
